Press Release – Transition Asia Strengthens Capability with Senior Appointments to China Team

Expanded China team to deepen research and engagement in China’s industrial decarbonisation

Transition Asia today announced two key appointments to strengthen its capability on research and engagement in China, welcoming Isadora Wang as Head of China and Helen Jia as Senior Advisor – China Strategy & Program Development. The appointments mark an important step in expanding the organisation’s expertise and engagement in one of the world’s most critical economies for industrial decarbonisation.

Isadora brings nearly a decade of experience across China’s industrial and energy sectors. Before joining Transition Asia, she served as Senior Advisor China Industry at Agora Industry, where she provided policy advice on industrial decarbonisation and CBAM across sectors including iron and steel, hydrogen, and chemicals. Her extensive expertise and network built through intergovernmental collaboration will be invaluable in providing nuanced analysis and insights into the current macro-political landscape.

She will be working alongside Transition Asia’s existing China experts and Helen Jia, who joins in an advisory capacity. Helen brings over 30 years of GHG reduction and climate policy experience across the energy, industrial, and financial sectors. She was most recently the founding China Country Head at Asia Research and Engagement, leading its Energy Transition team.

Isadora Wang, Head of China at Transition Asia, said:

“Having emerged as the leading economy with fast-growing renewable energy installations, China now prioritises green and modern industrial upgrading over the next five years.  At Transition Asia, I aim to deepen and expand fact-based research that contributes to policy agenda setting in China, helping to accelerate industrial decarbonisation while minimising risks and costs.”

Andrew Richards, Executive Director of Transition Asia, said:

“Amid today’s complex geopolitical environment, discussions on China’s industrial decarbonisation require as much rationality and constructiveness as before. By expanding our China team, we will further strengthen our capacity to analyse industrial decarbonisation pathways, lead the scientific and evidence-based transition of emission-intensive industrial materials, and provide support for policy development and corporate transformation practices.”
